Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts Alphabet Challenge
I love Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and really wanted to play through it again, but I wanted to add some special restrictions to make things a bit more interesting. Inspired by one of the challenge races that Mecha Richter and I did, Xaintrix suggested that I attempt the Alphabet Challenge:
- Goal: Complete the game with 100%: Achieve the T.T. Trophy from every Jiggy Challenge and redeem every Jiggy, complete every Jinjo challenge and redeem every Jinjo token, and collect all notes and all vehicle parts.
- Every custom vehicle I use must be shaped like a letter of the alphabet.
- The letter for a new vehicle is randomly selected by my sometimes-functional Chatbot.
- Letter orientation and capitalization is decided on a case-by-case basis.
This challenge was utterly ridiculous and nearly every challenge was a highlight. I decided to compile some data for easy re-watching; below are tables of every challenge in the game, with the vehicle letter used, score/time for the successful completion, the threshold for a T.T. Trophy, and timestamped links to the appropriate video. Enjoy!
Nutty Acres
This is a really great level. The map is wide-open which lets me use some rather big vehicles, and it covers a wide range of story progression. I don’t have many parts for the early challenges, but by the later acts I am able to use some real monstrosities.

Jinjo Challenges
LOGBOX 720
This is a rough level; it is very vertical but has low ceilings. Since most of my letters need to be large in order to be distinguishable as a letter, it is really hard for me to navigate this level. We still made it work, and had some interesting solutions!

Jinjo Challenges
Banjoland
Banjoland is an exceptional stage. There are some really unique challenges here, and lots of space for me to maneuver unwieldy vehicles! I had a lot of fun with this level this time.

Jiggosseum
This is, without a doubt, the best stage in the game. I can’t say enough good things about the challenge design of this level. Absolutely fantastic. Wide-open space plus several non-race challenges means I was able to be as creative as possible with some of my solutions.
Jiggy Challenges
Jinjo Challenges
Terrarium of Terror
By far my least favorite level. I did enjoy this substantially more than my first playthrough of the game, but it is still a really prohibitive level. There are a lot of very narrow corridors and low ceilings that eliminate nearly all of my vehicles. There were some fun challenges/solutions this time around, but overall it was still the worst of the main levels.

Spiral Mountain
I really like what they tried with this level, but with the restrictions I put out, the L.O.G. challenge was a nightmare. Good concept, and interesting take on the quiz show final battle they used for the other Banjo games, but it was a mess here.
Note: Spiral Mountain Act 1 is technically the intro cutscene with Fat Banjo
